How do i get rid of some black tarnish that's on my sterling silver bracelet?
I have a sterling silver bracelet and three years ago it got stuck in the washer machines filter. My mom had the repair man clean out the filter and my bracelet was full of some black tarnish, how can I get rid of it and make it look good as new?
Here's a simple way to remove tarnish from silver jewelry, silverware, etc.: Tear off a sheet of aluminum foil and crumple it up into a loose ball. Place the foil into a pot large enough to hold the item you want to clean. Add a tablespoon (or more if using a large pot) of salt and cover with water. Bring the water to a simmer and stir once or twice to make sure the salt is dissolved. When the water begins to bubble, carefully dip the bracelet or whatever into the water. The chemical interaction between the aluminum and salt should remove the tarnish almost immediately. Good luck!
