At what age should a child start wearing an ID bracelet? Our 13 month old has a severe peanut allergy.
It depends - obviously the child would need to be able to keep the bracelet on.
Is your child in a day care setting? Do they go on field trips? If your child is exclusively in your care or a trusted nanny or family member, you probably don't need to get anything right away, but it is a great idea to consider your options and be proactive in alerting others of your child's food allergies.
Another alternative is a temporary tattoo - www.safetytat.com - use this for outings where your child may get separated from you (when they are a little older - zoo, waterpark, day care settings, etc.). I've also seen labels you can print up to tag clothing/bags, etc. I've also heard people make a tag with your child's photo that says "No Peanuts" to post in the church day care of school. Really - whatever you need to do to make yourself feel that you've covered the bases and whatever is necessary to keep your child safe is good.
